WHY AM I DOING THIS?: As much as an amateur blogger and theologian can do this...I want to make you think. I want you to know what you believe and why you believe it. And I want you to believe what you do - not because Mommy and Daddy believed it - but because it is the truth as contained in the Scriptures. I pray that God will use this blog and the resources and links provided here to grow its readers (including me) in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I pray this knowledge will result in a life of obedience that flows - not from fear or a desire to gain God's favor - but from a gratitude of knowing the truth about Who your Creator is, and what your Creator has done for you.

Thinking Blogger Award…VOTS is Good for the Brain!

Posted by Brian Thornton on April 5, 2007

Imagine my surprise when I learned that Voice of the Sheep had been selected by Lisa over at Deo Valente as a blog that makes her think! Lisa, I would like to sincerely thank you for tagging me (and may I say, you might want to raise your standards just a little bit!). For those who are not familiar with her site, I strongly encourage you to take a trip over there. Her site is one that is well worth the time.

Okay, so now it is my duty to list five other blogs that make me think. This is really not an easy task, as there are so many worthy of this designation. Here goes.

Pros Apologian – This is the blog and apologetics resource site run by James White of Alpha & Omega Ministries. James is, in my opinion, one of the foremost experts on all things Christian (not that my opinion makes it any more true). I greatly appreciate his ministry, and his wit…and I am constantly challenged by his study and preparation to always be ready to give a defense.

Pyromaniacs – I know, I know…This one probably gets listed all the time as a blog that makes people think. Well, it gets listed often because it is good! If you haven’t checked it out yet…where’ve you been?!?!

Fide-O Blog – Jason Robertson and the others who contribute to Fide-O make my head hurt! I wish I had a grasp on things like they do. Jason in particular is extremely adept at defending the Amil end times position, but that is by no means the only thing covered over there (I had the privilege of sharing some radio time with Jason not too long ago on that very subject). The truth of Christ is unashamedly defended by those guys.

Doxoblogy – This blog is run by Jeremy Weaver, and is one I visit almost every day. In Jeremy’s own words, “The intent of this blog…is to give you biblical theology to equip myself and the reader to worship God in spirit and in truth.” Check it out.

Desiring God Blog – It was a toss up between this one and some other really good sites, but I wanted to list this one to encourage people to go and be challenged by what is posted at the DG Blog. You will not be disappointed.

Well, that’s it! I hope you will take the time – if you haven’t already – to go and visit these sites and be challenged.

Thanks again, Lisa.

Congratulations! I enjoy your blog Brian, your posts are often well thought out and beneficial. The only thing I’d say however is that you’re a little slack in responding to comments left now and again. This discourages people from commenting in the future, and if you would like to see this blog grow in readership and activity, work on this area.

Just a thought brother. Keep up the good work!

  2. Thanks, Armen, for the words of encouragement…and for the constructive criticism. I will work harder at replying to comments.

You visit my site nearly every day? That’s a lot more than I do!
Thanks for the honors…Am I supposed to do something now?

  4. Hi Jeremy!

Yeah, you are supposed to list five other blogs that make you think.

    Happy Resurrection Day!
