Pre-Trib…Pre-Wrath…Mid-Trib…Post-Trib…Pan-Trib…
All of these eschatological views place a time period at the end of history consisting of great testing and trouble and persecution, and which the rapture of the church occurs just prior to, in the middle, or at the very end of.
With regards to end-times theology, under which of these do you fall? Pan-Tribbers need not comment or even read this because they are too scared to attempt to discern the truth as it is contained in Scripture, so they opt for a position that, on the surface looks pious and mature, but screams of uncertainty, fear, or the all-too-familiar we shouldn’t discuss this because it divides people.
A more important question would be this: Can you tell someone where a seven-year time period at the end of history (still yet future for us) is even taught in the Bible? Do you know where end-times theology that includes a future 7-year period known as the Tribulation originates in Scripture? Is your answer to these questions a resounding, “I’m not sure.”, yet you hold dogmatically to the notion that there is such a thing as a future Tribulation? Don’t you think it would be more responsible to know where the Bible talks about an event (or at least where people get that notion from in the first place)?
Many think that a seven-year Tribulation period at the end of history (still yet future for us) is taught in Revelation, or perhaps the Gospels, or maybe within the writings of Paul as he addresses the return of Christ. I’ll give you a hint, though…it doesn’t even originate from the New Testament. Nowhere in the NT is there a discussion or prophecy of a yet future seven-year period known as the Tribulation. Make sure you are reading my words carefully, and see if you can answer my question concerning where people get a yet future (for us) time period at the end of history known as the Tribulation. Where does this position originate in the Bible?
If you hold pretty strongly to a particular end-times view that includes a yet future 7-year tribulation…can you tell me (without having to research it) where that is taught in Scripture? I won’t know if you cheated and looked it up…but God will. The point being, if one is going to hold strongly to some particular theological view, one should know where that view is taught in Scripture…don’t you think?
I know I don’t usually get a lot of people commenting on this site, but I hope some of you will be willing to share some thoughts on this.
I will post some more on this tomorrow or Wednesday.
UPDATE: I just noticed this article on Drudge which said that Israel is bracing for war with up to five enemies. Hmmm…sounds like they are just about surrounded from all sides. Where’s the antichrist when you need him to make peace???
