Centurion, one of the elite members of TeamPyro, has put forth this suggestion to the church:
Because there’s so much misuse of sex in our culture today, I recommend that in order to offer a Gospel-centered correction, no Christian should have sex at all under any circumstance — whether they are married or single.
Here is some of what I posted on his site in reply:
To be consistent, those who require of their leadership that they abstain completely from alcohol, or those who preach that alcohol should have no part in a Christian’s life, should also require of their leaders and proclaim to their flocks that total abstinence from sex is the right witness the church should make to the world because of how it is so misused in our culture.
In other words, just as advocating abstinence from sex is utterly ridiculous (for us married folk), so is it utterly ridiculous (not to mention it is setting the bar higher than God Himself has set it, and clearly an example of going beyond what is written) to advocate abstinence from alcohol, no matter how abused the stuff is in our culture or within the church itself!
