I didn’t do so well with my resolution last year to read through the Bible (Praise God that my position in Christ is not dependent upon my performance as a Christian!). So, this year I resolved to make no resolutions, well, except that one. One thing I did want to do this year, though, was to listen to the whole Bible. And Good News & Crossway makes that quite an easy thing to do by providing several daily reading/listening programs on their site.
If you will look to the right side of this site in the first sidebar under the title ‘Thru the Bible’, you will see the program I am using each day. As the site describes, “Each day includes a reading from the Old Testament and New Testament. Starting in Genesis and Matthew, the readings continue sequentially—over the course of a year, you never read the same passage twice.“
As I said, there are other plans you can also choose from, including Every Day in the Word, Book of Common Prayer Daily Office Lectionary, and a Chronological plan, among others, most of which have the ability for you to listen while/instead of reading.
The neat thing is that Good News & Crossway has linked these daily reading plans with Max McLean’s Listener’s Audio Bible read in the English Standard Version. All you have to do is click ‘listen’, and Max begins to read that particular portion of Scripture with that incredible voice.
Oh, and I forgot to mention the best part of it all. It’s free!
