Voice of the Sheep

bleatings of an amateur reformational credobaptistic theologian

  • To the Shepherd

But we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise. - Ps. 79:13

WHY AM I DOING THIS?: As much as an amateur blogger and theologian can do this...I want to make you think. I want you to know what you believe and why you believe it. And I want you to believe what you do - not because Mommy and Daddy believed it - but because it is the truth as contained in the Scriptures. I pray that God will use this blog and the resources and links provided here to grow its readers (including me) in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I pray this knowledge will result in a life of obedience that flows - not from fear or a desire to gain God's favor - but from a gratitude of knowing the truth about Who your Creator is, and what your Creator has done for you.

I Covet Your Prayers

Posted by Brian Thornton on April 19, 2008

For two things I ask for and would sincerely appreciate your prayers.

One – I severely injured my back (with a muscle pull) yesterday in the course of my business, and had to limp through the rest of the day barely able to get around. Driving my truck was, literally, excruciatingly painful. Today was a little bit better, but I am still hurting to the point that I can’t walk entirely upright (I feel a little like Igore, all hunched over, though my Dad says he couldn’t really notice it until I pointed it out to him). God is good, as always. He arranged my day today to end unusually early to give me some time to recuperate, and for that I am very grateful.

Two – Tomorrow night (Sunday), I am being ordained as a deacon at RCC along with five other brothers. This has been quite a process of examination, which started back in September, and I ask that you would pray that I represent God faithfully in this new role of being a minister of mercy to my church body…for their good and His glory.
