Casting Crowns Lead Singer, Mark Hall Adds New Custom-Designed “Star Wars” Desk to Office: Aside from fronting GRAMMY-winning band Casting Crowns and his full-time post as Youth Pastor in Atlanta, Mark Hall is a mega “Star Wars” fan. This rings true with the latest, one-of-a-kind desk recently added to his famously-photographed, Star Wars themed church office. Mark commissioned New York Designers Tom Spina and Richard Riley of Tom Spina Designs to custom design and build this desk according to his specifications, needs and interests. The desk, which is being described as “functional art”, includes licensed “Star Wars” props from the 90s.
from Tennesseean.com:
“Before music, before student ministry, I was an art student. I wanted to do special effects in movies. Next thing you know, God zapped me and I was a youth pastor.
“But recently I started collecting, and my office is all Star Wars: life-size Darth Vader, original movie posters signed by the cast, murals on the walls. I found this company on the Internet and had the thought, ‘Let’s do a Star Wars desk,’ ” the lead singer/songwriter/sparkplug of Casting Crowns says. “We started coming up with all these ideas, and while we were on the phone, I said, ‘What about Han Solo in carbonite, under glass?’ He said, ‘Oooooooh. Let me think about that for a while.’ He started tinkering with some ideas and we came up with this.”
from Covenanteyes.com:
I visited him on a Wednesday a few weeks ago in his office, as he was preparing for youth group that night. It was interesting to watch as many youth came up to him with questions and other stuff, just like any other youth pastor. Mark’s office is decorated in eclectic Star Wars. A life-size Darth Vader stands in the corner, and his desk looks like it’s straight off the set.
