On Baptism – Who Said It
Posted by Brian Thornton on April 28, 2008
“Baptism is ‘the circumcision of Christ’, and it signifies the washing away of sin, personal renewal by the Spirit of God, and membership in the body of Christ.”
Give me your guesses without any google searches.
I want to talk about this one in the next day or so, because the context of this quote is very significant.

I want to guess Mark Dever…but it could just as easily be Rick Warren. Sounds to be a typical Southern Baptistish definition of baptism…probably using such places as Colossians 2 in its defense.

Thanks for the guesses, Mike. So, currently we have one vote for Dever and one for Warren. I hope some more of you will take a stab at this one, the answer will be very interesting, I can promise!

Sproul?
Okay…now we have a vote for Sproul and Dever and Warren. The vote for Sproul seems odd, given the content of the quote relating to baptism.

Yes odd… I would have retracted it after I re-read the post again. All I processed was circumcision and then posted…

Stephen,
I didn’t mean to scare you regarding your guess with my comments. Do you want to retract your guess of Sproul, or keep it in the mix?
