NOTE to my Paedo brothers and sisters in Christ…please take this post as tongue-in-cheek, and with a smile.
I must confess that I was more than a little amused at some of the accusations leveled against me in the baptism discussion that has been going on for the last few days. Apparently, if you are not a Paedo-Baptist, several things automatically are known about your theology. The following seem to be the results (or what goes along with) being a Credo-Baptist:
- You are not a true Calvinist
- You are Arminian
- You are Platonic (sorry, but that one is over my head…I only have a bachelor’s degree)
- You deny total depravity
- You do not understand how God works in salvation
- You believe faith precedes regeneration
- You must evangelize your children (Amen!)
The other one I was waiting for but never heard is that, if you are Credo, then you are also Dispensational!
So, sorry to my fellow Credo brothers and sisters out there who also love the doctrines of grace, but you apparently can’t have it both ways. You can’t love the tenets of Reformed Theology AND follow what God explicitly commanded in Scripture concerning baptism.
