Voice of the Sheep

bleatings of an amateur reformational credobaptistic theologian

  • To the Shepherd

But we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will give thanks to you forever; from generation to generation we will recount your praise. - Ps. 79:13

WHY AM I DOING THIS?: As much as an amateur blogger and theologian can do this...I want to make you think. I want you to know what you believe and why you believe it. And I want you to believe what you do - not because Mommy and Daddy believed it - but because it is the truth as contained in the Scriptures. I pray that God will use this blog and the resources and links provided here to grow its readers (including me) in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I pray this knowledge will result in a life of obedience that flows - not from fear or a desire to gain God's favor - but from a gratitude of knowing the truth about Who your Creator is, and what your Creator has done for you.

What Has Light to Do with Darkness

Posted by Brian Thornton on June 9, 2008

Steve Camp has a very good article on the subject addressed by Paul in the following passage:

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers.
For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness?

Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

What accord has Christ with Belial?

Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?

-Paul, 2 Corinthians 6:14-15

I’m curious…what areas of a Christian’s life do you think Paul is addressing here? Does it apply to friendships, for example…REAL friendships. Can a believer truly have a friend who does not have the mind of Christ. What does it mean to be friends? Ponder this and let me know your thoughts.

And the Hits Just Keep on Rising…As Long As It’s About Baptism, or Something Factious

Posted by Brian Thornton on June 9, 2008

Just an FYI to everyone…

This past week was also an experiment of sorts for me. If you will remember, I did a post a week or so ago talking about how controversy gets more attention that just straight up doctrine or regular issues do.

Here are some quick statistics for your pondering:

Two weeks ago, my average hits per day for a five-day week was 306.

This past week, my average hits per day was 662!

It’s a fact! Controversy sells!
