We arrived back at home yesterday (Friday) after driving all the way from Daytona and stopping only one time! For those of you with children, you know what a feat that is. We made it all the way from the beach to Valdosta before stopping to eat lunch and gassing up, and then went from there all the way to our driveway.
Thursday night, our last evening before the depressing journey back, was rather exciting for the kids. After touring the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and surrounding grounds (I highly recommend a visit if you have never been there), we left and were heading to Walgreen’s before making our way back to the resort when a fantastic lightning show caught our attention in the northern sky. Massive streaks of cloud-to-cloud lightning flashed from the west to the east, and in the process of watching, I lost track of my speed. I was quickly reminded of it, though, when I was practically blinded by the flashes of another kind – those of red and blue in my rear view mirror.
Thankfully, the officer decided to only treat us rudely and scare us to death with ridiculous quotes of how much the ticket would be, and then proceeded to hand my license back and get in his vehicle and drive off. My kids thought I was about to be arrested. Exciting for them…nerve-racking for me and Pam. Anyway, I was fortunate that I did not get a ticket.
While it is a little disheartening knowing that another vacation has once again flown by and come to an end, it is good to be back home and to be looking forward to joining our church family for worship on Sunday.
God is good, all the time…all the time, God is good.
